Books Open Opportunities for Kids to Succeed

Jr. Detective Day at
Your Home Public Library in Johnson City

On August 15, 2007, children spent the afternoon learning basic detective skills.

Librarian, Maryse Quinn, helped the kids make their own Jr. Detective badges and casebooks. A tray of common objects tested the children’s powers of observation.
Kids recorded what they remembered from the tray after it was taken away. The group moved outdoors to continue their investigations.
Kids learned to sharpen their listening skills on the front porch of the library. Everyone wrote in their casebooks all the different sounds they heard.
The Jr. Detectives searched for “suspects” throughout the library. This boy works on his own disguise.

Maryse Quinn taught kids how to make disguises.
